If you have noticed that you have small depressions occurring in the tool when you are sharpening it with a dry grinder it’s because the wheel has too tight of a radius. You can reduce the chances of this happening with the larger wheels.
Dry grinders have their place in tool sharpening but they have their downfalls as well. They can be hard on your chisels because the grinder tends to overheat the edges. Then the chisels become weak. Another problem is when you are performing the grinding procedures there are materials that form causing a glaze on the stone. This means it won’t be as effective. If this happens then you have to re condition it by using a dressing tool.
